t's amazing to think of how long I've been a fan of Mark Kozelek's music. It's intense, emotionally devastating, and haunting acoustic music that's feels like it's been part of my life forever. He's got three different bands for his distinct sound - Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon, and solo works. At this point in Mark Kozelek's career there are more live and compilation albums than new releases. While the new releases are always welcome it's fun to get lost in the winding, old, melodramatic tunes that I memorized in my twenties. "Grace Cathedral Park" gets my vote for the perfect old school tune, while the more accessible (relatively) "Glenn Tipton" is a good example of what he's doing these days.
