Dear Reader,
ere is something you should know. There are TWO bands with the name Lamb. One is from the UK and is a electronica duo that will change your world and the other is a christian rock band that I see late at night performing in compilation CD commercials. Maybe their stuff is good, but I've never been enticed to find out.
Now, the first mentioned. Lamb. OH LAMB. I first heard them in high school and they have NEVER been removed from my list of favorites. The heavy drum and bass influence when mixed into electronica waves is astounding. You won't be able to keep yourself from following the countermelody of the bass. It doesn't interfere when Rhodes sings, but it takes over the melody in the blanks. Its pure harmony, really enchanting.
I own most all of the duo's albums, but I can readily recommend all the tracks on Fear of Fours. There's a little something for everyone on this disc, and each song is a great departure from the last. Its like a perfect mix CD, but all by the same band. "Soft Mistake" is like a orchestral introduction, setting the tone and letting you ease into the album. Then with "Little Things" to acclimate yourself to Lou Rhodes' dynamic voice, you've been properly introduced. Be ready for a love affair that is gonna leave you feeling justified, understood and relaxed (but somehow still ready to kick ass in your workout). "B Line" (listen to the video) is like a better version of Bjork's "Oh So Quiet". This is definitely how girls feel when they have a crush.
P.S. "Alien" is a favorite song of mine to sing (perhaps in a more melodic and less electronic voice) when I'm pregnant (like now). My sisters know it, and they'll say the words to me as well. Perfect non-sentimental-choked thoughts: "What's it like in there? Am I a happy home? I hope you're cozy in there." Beautiful.
